Well its astraight forward question.

Do you think when vista is released to the public, do you recon it will be a sucsess,

Ive seen people say "its good" and some say "its bad."

i added a poll to make it clearer to see the results.

I think it wont. Because people are already complaining about the specs just for the BETA version

Yes.

Win95 like Vista was ahead of its time, and required a lot of people to upgrade their systems.

This will be a leap of faith- im just not getting it for my home comp so my parents cant limit my time logged in... I think it will work, after a few hotfixes and service packs and stuff, just like XP.

i would have thought installing the service packs would decrease performance, and from peoples opinion on it performance isn't very good in the first place,

dunno xp always seems slower while under the influence of service pack 1, and service pack 2 was a slight more of a decrease.

plus the fact, that my pc didn't react well to the new processes that it installed, (hence the post bout my pc decides when)

the fact that it slowed down is prob cuz you needed to either defrag or reformat after (or before) the packs.

i have heard bad things about the beta being unstable but i wonder if it ever crossed people's minds that it is BETA not final release... people seem to think it IS windows vista...

well i agree with what your sayin, it is a beta. but if anythink microsoft should make the beta a stable os if they expect people to buy it when it comes out, basically there not doing themselfs any favours by releasing the beta which might make people think its a bad os to have

Well it only needs a definition of the word beta to counter-act that statement

Yes, Vista will do just fine. You know I come across people who say ME was the best OS ever made. I mean think about it... WINDOWS! Of course it'll do fine. Basically every computer in the world is compatable with it now, and nearly all of them will come with it preloaded once it comes out. I seriously doubt your average user will change the OS on their new Dell to something like Linux or back to XP :P They will just stick with whatever it came with.

Vista will be a success just like every other version of Windows that preceded it. If you buy a new prebuilt computer, it will (eventually) have Vista preinstalled. It's not like anyone will have a choice as to whether or not their new PC will have XP or Vista on it. Each OS was a success in its day because that's what came with the computer, like The Other One says.

It's only going to be in hindsight whether or not Vista will be considered a good OS. A sales success does not necessarily mean it will be considered a good product.

Anybody that says no are fools. When has a version of windows since 95 not dominated the market. And none of the software manufacturer's are gonna wanna make a move away from a safe platform

unless it is something that is a brilliantly designed and uniqe that has an AMAZING/IMPOSSIBLE marketting department to depend on...

Yes.

It's becuase many people waited a new operating systems for such a long time! Like me!!! It"s either i'll buy a new computer pre-intalled with Vista or Upgrade!!!

Of course its going to be a success!

The reason people say its bad is because well, it requires great hardware performing systems ... and oh yea, they are testing BETAS... so it's bound to crash and such.

Like 95, previously said.. it's probably not as much as it would of been to upgrade to 95 when it came out.. i wasnt around when that happened.. so i have no idea.. but that's my guess
