omega, good point, most of us will replace the computers before they will die because of the nature of tech advancement. I find it ridiculous that noone here yet has considered (or at least spoke of) the environmental benefits of turning your computer on/off.

Regarding servers: well I suppose these get left on anyway due to their serving nature!!!

Probably because most people here are kids who have their parents pay for all the electricity :)
 
Thanks for all the replies guys. Sounds like eitherone would work. I just dont' have time to use my desktop all the time so i just turn it off i've decided. I have a laptop that is the one i use when i donthave the desktop on. More ideas/thoughts are welcome.

I really don't think anyone needs to leave their computer on over night (unless you occasionally leave it running to download stuff), I don't understand why people leave their computers runnign 24/7, your doing unnesessary damage to the environment, its not like your gonna be using it while you sleep.
 
^^^ i dont game, i only use the internet and iTunes. no need for me to have a core 2 duo or anything fancy. Im 18 and dont spend thousands on computers yet.
