does a different hard drive make any difference in Raid 1

i mean i have 2 seaget 1tb
and i need to replace one with western digital 1 tb

does it make any difference on cache or speed of the hard drive

It helps to have the same rpm and cache as the other drive. But it will still work.
 
From what i understand you already have a raid 1 setup and look to switch one of the drives with a different model one. Correct?

Questionable. There are small size differences in hard drives. And if the new hard drive is even a little bit smaller the raid won't rebuild. But if it's bigger it'll probably rebuild just fine.

Also with johnb35. The raid setup is about as fast as the slowest drive if i remember correctly.

You are correct. It will still work though. But to get best performance, you should use another of the same drive you have.
