its hard to find info on this but the hardware is available. and i was thinkin of building a setup like this but i need more info....

i doubt it... seriously, two is more or less pushing it (depending on how high up on the hardware ladder you climb...) unless you are doing some intense workstation type applications...

oh, to answer you... i don't... or can't would be a better one...

Usally when you have three graphics cards, two are in SLI/Crossfire and the other is used similar to a physics card(or at least that's what I've seen...)

As for if I'm using one, no. I don't game nearly enough to have anything more than what I have now.

Hmm

would this even be usefull for gaming applications?

I doubt any normal game would boast support for something as crazy as having three graphics cards. For the time being it's a waste of money. However, in the future, it may become the norm.

JAN :D

how would you set the third up for a phys-x card

alos the people who have 3 pci-ex cards are the ones who have like 5 or 6 monitors

i don't think The_Other_One actually meant a VIDEO card being used as a physics card... i think he meant an actual physics card... similar to this...

could be i guess... one is enough for me... we have computers at work with dual monitors which is SOMETIMES nice, most of the time it's a pain in the ass :P...

sorry to burst your bubble, but quad sli has been out for quite a while now... not specially intended for gaming yet... mostly used for workstation type applications...

No ATI was supposed to come out with a support for 3 cards, I forget what it was called, but two ran in crossfire for graphics, and 1 ran for physics, however it wasn't true physics it was pretty much just eye candy. And I doubt 3 cards will ever be the norm, its gonna swap over to integrated cpu/gpu's or at least that is the direction amd/ati is supposedly going.

never knew that... but then again i never kept up with much computer stuff pertaining to graphics... i'm more of a console gamer... my computer is for internet and "out-of-date" gaming...

hmm... curious, so exactly how do you set it up? how do you tell the GFX card to become a physics card?

I am pretty sure it would just have to do with the motherboard which slot its in and the the drivers would be able to tell it what to do, not really sure though, its all eye candy though, so the actual physics of that games aren't better they just look nicer.

well that makes no sense... to me... why sell something that makes the game's physics look nicer??? wouldn't that be just the same as the graphics...
Well yes in a sense, but its taking it to a new level that gpu's can't go to on their own. GPU's can make things look more realistic, but they can't make things act more realistically, which that setup would, but the physx takes it one step further and makes the more realistic environment interactive with the player.

whoops, i read it wrong... i thought you meant make the physics look nicer, graphically... not accentuate the physics to realistic levels, per se...
