does avast?

I believe there are two options. One would be delete, and the other might be called quarantine (or "the virus chest"). Either way, I would just do what it recommends
 
I am thinking of buying an anti virus.


Avast!. ? or AVG Pro.?



I need them to be on at all times, bring to my attention any threats. And delete any threats or stuff.
 
Buy? Download, you mean.

Get AVG Free Edition and Avast.

If you want anti-spyware, get Lavasoft Ad-aware as well (free as well, of course).
 
Just get the free version of AVG. It notifies you when you download a virus or one is detected. No need to buy AVG Pro.
 
Why waste your money on software you can get for free? There are numerous freeware programs out there that will protect you very well. Spend the money on RAM or something. :)

I was under the impression that i can go to a store and purchase avg or avast.
If the freeware stuff works, then Ill use that.

Because if he is on a network he will need to buy it, and the previous posts on Avast! made it seem that Avast! was always free.
