Does it matter if i use one 256 Ram in one slot and 1GB in the other slot. because right now i have 2x 256 ram cards but i want to get up to a GB of ram but i can just buy a 1GB card to replace one of the 256 cards. but then i was think if you should even them out or if one is way bigger then the other will it matter? thanks.

It'll be fine, you just won't have dual channel. Remember, larger modules go in first.

make sure the 256mb dimm will be the same speed as the 1gb kit
