Does it really matter

hey guys. i just put in my 512mb of ram adding it to my 256, and i was wondering if it really matters if the faster one is in front... but then again, which is front???

When I did that on older boards I would always put the more MBs one in the number 1 slot, but I dont think it really matters!

Installing the larger capacity module in the lower numbered slot(front close to the CPU) does not give you performance gain. But installing the smaller capacity module in the front definitely slows down the performance.

Why? I don't think anybody can answer that...but it was proven through extensive testings on different system setups.

you just said two exact opposite things

If it boots with no errors I dont see a problem either way, but I just have always put the bigger stick in the first slot!
