Does LCD mess up your eyes?

Then whats the point of using the highest res possible if you cant see jack squat. I want to use 1024 res, but people say using the highest 1280 (for my monitor at least) makes it look better..

and there are those things that you put the the monitors like black shade or w/e and it block the reflection that makes your eye's weaker

Is it true?

yeah, my cousin has one of those, they make the screen really dim and annoying.

You know... A few years back, I had this problem where I'd basically roll my eyes. My parents thought I had some neurologic disease, she even found some site with my "symptoms" and what not. Well, pretty soon after I got myself a LCD, and guess what, my symptoms decreased.

I have noticed them coming back since I got my new display, and I beleive it's from how bright it is. That or I'm wondering if the faster responce/sharper images cause the problem.

And if your wondering about actual vision problems, my vision actually improved a bit over the last few years! Not to say using a computer is "good" for you...

My vision is 20/20 and I use LCD monitors. I would have to agree with Kyllc, anytime you are straining to see something it's not good.

On the resolution issue, no resolution is necessarily "better" than the one before it, resolution is a matter of personal preference. I personally enjoy a larger resolution because it increases desktop space and makes everything look more crisp. That's a personal decision though. I'm not sure if increased resolution does anything for gaming... I dont game.

And as far as the filters go, the monitor I use at work has one and I find myself squinting more with it on than when it is off. It makes things darker and it's just harder to see, to me it seems like it causes more of a problem.
