Does manufacturer matter?

I've been thinking about buying a new graphics card lately and I'm still a little lost. Basically:

I found Radeon X1950PRO manufactured by GECUBE for 170 US

Then theres futureshop which sells Radeon X1950PRO manufactured by ATI for $250 CAD

Then theres ncix which sells RADEON X1950PRO manufatured by SAPPHIRE For $200 CAD

would it be a good idea to go for the cheaper one? Do brand names really matter? Any tips?

PS
And another question, which is quite irrelevent, but does a better graphic card result in faster rendering in 3ds max?

I would tend to go for a good, known brand like XFX, ASUS, SAPPHIRE.

I'd go for that one... Also, I think it will help with rendering, I'm not entirely sure though.

When buying from ATI, I try to go directly from ATI, no middle man needed. When buying Nvidia, I go for EVGA, XFX, or BFG Tech. Those are the prime names.

Yes, a low video card made by Leadtek have the same results in Benckmarks like a medium video card made by Palit or Galaxy.I talk about medium and low for Geforce 7 series.(I tested Leadtek 7300 GT and Galaxy 7600GS).

For Ati video boards is the same.

2 main advantages of good manufactures: Better and faster memory(2ns instead of ,4,5) and very good image filters(capacitors)-quality of image.

highly debatable, and you will always get different results. There aren't many hardware manufacturers out there. Almost all computer parts are made by LG, Hitachi, IBM, etc. So they all use the same parts, same electronics, however the architecture is what is different.

Almost all hardware is made by the same companies with the same components but not all hardware is designed the same way.

Hope that makes sense.

I would go to www.Tomshardware.com and read reviews, that site is pretty reliable.

Personally, I'd look more into the warranty than anything. I know Evga has a lifetime warranty on their cards. They're the company I tend to go with. I can remember quite a few times they one of, if not the cheapest card when I was looking for one.

Ok, I'm now also considering the GeForce 8600 GTS by XFX

how does the performance of the 8600GTS compare to X1950 PRO?

any suggestions?

The X1950 Pro beats it sometimes and is cheaper so many people reccomend it. I myself am going to get the 8600GTS because it's DX10.
