does manufacturer really matter?

I am thinking of upgrading soon and was wondering does the name of the company really mean anything? i usually use BFG but then they can be a little more costly for a videocard, so does it really matter on the company, as they all have the same chipset. Most likely by the time they break there're already out of date .Also what would be a good card for newer games, my 7600 gt has done me well but i am only able to play 2142 on medium and get some lag/choppy, I also plan on buying Airborne when it come out. So I'd need decent card as I am not a fan of playing on low, my price is about 150-200 CND

EVGA and XFX are probably the top two....As for ATI, just buy directly from ATI, don't buy anything with a third party name slapped on it.

As far as video cards go, I can't say I've noticed a difference in quality from manufacturer to manufacturer. I mean, specifications can vary slightly from different manufactures, but I haven't ever had a problem with a specific brand.
