Does microsoft security essentials slow down pc?

Yeah it's lightweight and doesn't slow a machine down. Don't need to disable it for gaming.

I agree. AVG didn't find a virus that I picked up once. MSE found it and got rid of it no problem.

Plus the fact that AVG is extremely bloaty, slow, and ends up going to hell once you get a virus.

All antivirus software will consume some resources, you simply can't get away from that. It's just something that is necessary if you want that protection.
