Does RAM slot Matter?

Hey, i have 2 gigs or ram in my computer, 2 sticks of the same 512mb DDR2 (200mhz), in slots 1 and 3, then 1 stick of 1Gb in slot 2 (333mhz). my concern is this, most of the time my computer is only using at 25% of my RAM and i was wondering if it uses that 25% from a certain slot, like slot 1. if this so should i switch my slightly faster single stick of ram to slot one and move the other 2 sticks to slots 2 and 4? please let me know, thanks.

It depends on how the BIOS/memory controller maps the memory addresses, with 2 sticks I don't know which slot it will use or if it alternates them from stick to stick. But it doesn't matter, your faster RAM runs at the same speed as the slower one. It doesn't matter what slot it's in, all RAM you install in your computer runs at the same speed, you can't set it slot by slot.

As long as the two identical ones are in the dual channel slots then the rest of the sticks placements dont matter.
