Does the bus speed have to match?

Does the bus speed on a motherboard have to match the bus speed on the processor? (Example: 800MHz motherboard - 800MHz Core 2 Duo) Or maybe I am just confused on the information I am getting here:confused: I have the specs pulled up on a certain motherboard and it gives the bus speed. Somewhat confused... Thanks.
 
The socket type for the cpu has to be the same. The board also has to support the cpu selected. An 800mhz board most likely wouldn't support a newer model for a different socket type even if that was also a 800mhz model seen. A 533 or 667mhz model should go right on without problem. You just won't see the cpu speed applied there.
