Does the program "Core Temp" give accurate readings?

I use the program "Core Temp" and I think I am getting an inaccurate reading. The processor temperature measurement seems correct (reads around 30 degrees Celsius generally), but it is saying my case temperature is 57 degrees Celsius most of the time. Is this accurate?

I have read that it isn't good to have the temperature in your case exceed 40 degrees Celsius.

I blow the dust out of my computer every few weeks so I know dust isn't the problem and my system isn't even near a heat vent. Anyone have any input on case temperature readings by Core Temp?
 
I have been trying various programs and I found coretemp (version 0.98.1) to be extremely inaccurate when compared to speedfan. Of course, this is for my system and I am sure it varies from system to system, Speedfan is what I have found that is closest to replicating temperatures listed in bios.
 
I would try the SuperUtilities that it comes with the motherboard (I think it has a temp thing init). Yes I have found core temp to be off a bit but it dose use less system rescores then some of the other programs I have used. I do use it because I like the logger and the temp in the systems try. I just have to add 8*C to what core temp is telling me.
 
I used to use speedfan way back when. Any more, I find it quite inaccurate and have avoided it. PC Wizard seems to be the most accurate, though it's quite wrong on my new Fujitsu.

Does your bios have the temps listed? If so, that'd be a good benchmark to see how accurate the programs you get are.
 
PC Wizard is pretty accurate, albeit it takes a long time to start up. Core temp doesn't work with my vista 64 =(.

Is this a safe download for PC Wizard?

I bought Vista 32-bit because I didn't want to deal with the incompatible 64-bit operating system yet. I tried Linux Ubuntu 64-bit operating system and just found more and more headaches with program incompatibility.

64-bit operating systems will be nice in the future, but not right now.

it is safe, it is the makers website.

You guys are lucky u guys can run it, everytime i tried my baby crashed.:eek:
 
I am currently using PC Wizard 2008 and Core Temp.

PC Wizard is saying my processor is at 34 degree Celsius and Core Temp is saying my processor is at 29 degrees Celsius.

It is also saying my Power/Aux Temperature is 37 degrees Celsius. The "Power/Aux" is my power supply?

PC Wizard is more accurate with temperature readings?

I'd only trust CMOS temperature readings. Most accurate anywhere.

What processor do you have?
