Does thermal paste "go bad"??

As long as it has been closed it should work just fine, 6 months is not that long, i just used arctic silver 5 that ive had for 2 years on my new build and its worked fine.
 
On the contrary, does thermal paste increase in performance from when you first apply it?

Some (not all) thermal pastes require to be "burnt it" i.e. at the beginning the thermal paste isn't too effective, you'll have to so some low-demaind stuff for a several hours before the paste will begin working at its optimum. How long burn-in periods are required (if any) and other specifics depend on what thermal paste you have...

Im using Arctic Silver 5.
