Does this sound like a good gaming computer?

I'm going to build a computer with a AMD 8150 CPU with a FX990 motherboard because I can hook up 18 USB ports. This PC is going to be my everything computer. I have an Antec EarthWatts EA-750 watts which should be enough. I'm going to put in 16 Gigs of 1833 RAM. I'm not going to overclock so I was told I don't need a liquid cooling system? I have an ATI Radeon™ HD 5750 Graphics card and I'm wondering if that is going to be strong enough for the new games? I have pretty fair speakers with a woofer but do I need a sound card? I know I'm missing something?
 
No need for 16 gb of ram. And a 5750 is only an entry level video card. What games will you be playing? Also the 750 watt PSU is overkill.
 
less ram and more video card. the 5750 is already being close to being outdated so i would get a newer, better one and only get 8gb of ram. unless your rendering videos you really don't need that much ram. I would save up your cash and get a 660ti.
 
if you must get an FX get the 8120 which on the stock cooler can easilly overclock to the 8150 and past it really, but i'd spend the extra couple bucks on a 2500k or 3570k
 
If you've got the budget I'd recommend a 3570K or an 2500K with a Z77 Motherboard, 8GB RAM, and at least a 7850 or 660 TI or higher.

Giving us a budget and what parts you need (including peripherals and software like Windows), somebody should be able to get you a good parts list.
 
I was only going to get the 16 Gigs of RAM because it was on sell for $20 more than the 8 Gigs. DDR3 16GB 1866MHz QUAD P for $65. I have the 750 Power supply that I got form amazon.com and saved $35. I figure I could get the 8150 for $30 more and not have to worry about overclocking it. There are some very minor difference between the two but I don't want to spend a lot of money on a liquid cooler. I've own 2 Intel computers and over the years went through over 20 AMD computers so dollar for dollar AMD beats Intel. I don't have a problem with a price list because I've been doing this for a long time but I can spend $200 for a video card but I don't want to go over that. So if someone can recommend a video card because I really don't know much about them. I'm like a car mechanic that can't change the tire on his car.
 
well apparently the next gen of FX might be coming out later this month, and it seems to be quite an improvement, and still, the clock difference from the 8120 to the 8150 isn't worth 30. Really why not list everything you have right now in your possession, then how much you have for the parts and let us say what will give you the best performance. and can you see if you live near a microcenter?
 
I would definitely recommend not using the 5750 considering that many people say the 5770 is going outdated. Depending on your budget, get something like a GTX 570, GTX 480, or a GTX 660ti or higher, or an HD 6850, HD 7850, or HD7870 or higher.

As for the CPU... How long ago did you have the two Intel computers? Because now with the i3's, i5's, and i7's, they run circles around many of AMD's "top-of-the line" CPUs. I'm no AMD hater - I'm just saying you get what you pay for. However, most of us don't have endless money, so I feel for you. The 8150 is actually really good for it's price, but a lot of people get an i5 2500k (the most comparable Intel CPU to the 8150) because the 1155 socket is what holds the more powerful CPU's in the gaming and general PC community, BUT it is $30 more.
 
It's all good and fun, but remember to have a good security system. Antivirus and spyware removal. And remember to constantly back up your data. <(")
 
Money isn't an issue but I still want to keep my Video card under $200 and I like AMD but I haven't heard of a new CPU coming out so if you have any info on that let me know.

Do you live near a microcenter and when do you plan on actually doing this? would wait till then end of the month since that's when the next FX is supposed to come out. And like said before, i'd def look at a new gpu, for 130 a 7770 dominates the 6770 and for 165 a 7850 is amazing.

I live near Fry's Electronics where I can buy anything for a computer. I will buy a new gpu. I also have Windows 7. I've studies Windows 8 but not impressed but don't know how it is for games. Waiting a couple of weeks is no big deal since I do have 4 computers so I'm not in a hurry but do want to build one soon.

I have saved thousands by ordering from amazon.com. I guess I'll just wait and get AMD Piledriver or Steamroller 8350 but I can't find out when it's comming out.
 
piledriver is supposed to come out later this month (check Reflect On Life threat in off topic section for a link, should be 1 page back) and steamroller is next years version. Either way a 2500k/3570k will be better and if you live near a microcenter they are really cheap
 
I think you should go for an i5 2500K or a 3570K with a Z77 board paired with either a 7850 or a 7870, unless you already have the 990FX board and the CPU or one or the other.
