Whenever i am on the internet every 5 minutes my IE encounters a problem and closes and restarts! i am an avid ebayer and cannot make an ebay ad because when you add a picture, another window comes up and then closes when the picture is upladed, and when it closes IE encounters a problem, closes, and restarts! infact Every single time i X off a IE page, the IE encounters a problem, closes, and restarts! its getting very frusterating! i currently dont have a anti virus because my disk drive dosent work.

I also would like someone to show me a good all in one anti virus, and something that will let me delete viruses etc...it dosent need to be free but cant be expensive

Not sure on what that would be, but for a free antivirus i would download AVG8 free, great program, if you do have a virus this should find most of them, download, install, update and let it scan. Its a nice all in one protection but i like to also keep adaware downloaded for spyware/adware.

OK, well as suggested above are some good virus protection programs,

now, we can help you fix your computer problem:

If after that you are still infected, please post a Hijackthis log. To post a Hijackthis log, please do the following:
Click Here to download HJTsetup.exe


* Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
* Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
* By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
* Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
* Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
* Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
* At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
* Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
* Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
* Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
* Come back and create a new thread and Paste the log in your post, using Hijackthis in your Subject bar
* DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.


We will look at your log as soon as we see it, and give you further instructions on how to fix your computer. Most of the time it will involve downloading more programs that will either give us logs to locate the malware or delete those malware.

Once you have posted a HJT Thread DO NOT make any changes to your PC unless the advisor helping you has instructed you to do so!

Download and Run ComboFix
If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

• Download this file from one of the three below listed places :

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Wow now that Startup is HUGE!! I quick looked over your log and I see you have Viewpoint Manager installed. This is known as foistware. It is installed with AIM or Aol but, is bad and un-needed for AOL or AIM to work. Go to your task manager and click "services tab" and cancel or stop "ViewpointService.exe". Then, go to add/remove programs and un-install Viewpoint.

Roxio is for creating cd's/dvd's. As for the combofix, delete it first. Then click one of those links again to download it. When it pops up click "save to disk" and save it to your desktop. Then, run it.

Removing Viewpoint was the first step!! Thats what you dont get.

well that fixed it for a few days! now its doing it again!

how do i get to hijack log program? im trying to find it but cant...I didnt make a shortcut.

IE problem has nothing to do with the Viewpoint. IE 7.0 is the most unstable browser currently. My tip: Download and use Firefox 3.0 or IE 8.0 Beta version ( which is still better than IE 7.0 although it's a Beta ).

You can find it clicking on Start->All Programs and probably the last program installed will be the HijackThis .
