Does This Work?

Do cell phone reception boosters work?

I work call at a hospital (I have to stay there 5 days straight) twice a month and when I go I take my Xbox 360 to play during down time. The hospital provides free Wi-Fi, but it has some limitations. It wont let connect my Xbox to it, so I was going to tether 3G off my phone.

I understand that 3G isnt optimal for online gaming, but its just FIFA. Ive played just fine off my cell phone before, but my reception at the hospital is shady at times and its too laggy. I usually have between 2-3 bars of 3G, but Im thinking if a cell phone booster works any at all, I could go from NOT being able to play to being able to play. Which would make time go by a lot faster.

Any thoughts or ideas?

As far as I'm concerned they are just gimmicks. Being inside a hospital with all the electronics and stuff is probably why you aren't getting good signal.

True. I dont get why the "Public_Internet_Access" wont let my xbox360 connect. I can go to A LOT more sites using it on my lap top, than I can on a hospital computer.

I wish there was a way, cause it gets reallllly boring here at times lol

It's called network security. They can block any access they want. They don't want someone using up their bandwidth playing video games.

I get that. "Public_Internet_Access" isnt the server/internet used by the hospital in terms of sending/receiving information. They have there own dedicated server for that. Which is why I said in the original post that my laptop, while on public internet, will go to just about every site the hospital internet/server blocks. Ebay, letmewatchthis, youtube, and forums in general are example of sites that work with "public internet" that dont work on a hospital computer. I was just really stoked and then bummed out, because they havent always had public internet. I used to not be able to surf the web really unless I was tethering off my phone.
