I name my file servers at home and at work after Mythical Gods and such.

Odin
Thor
Loki
Asgard
Ullr
Grendel
Hades
Isis
Horus
Rah
Raiden
Monkey (the handsome monkey king to be exact)
so on and so forth

So on and so forth. My work machines are FQDN systems so we use a formula at work to make sure they are all named to a convention. Any thing that I set up aside for my department like file servers, wiki and web servers, and stuff that only we use internally I get to name.

I also name my flash drives individual names because in Unix/Linux/OS X systems they are all mounted under a certain path by volume name, and if you have multiple entries of the same name you get (1), (2), and (3) and etc past the name which gets annoying when doing things from the command line

Now I don't actually name my desktops at home anything special, unless of course it is a server of some sort then I name it a mythical being.
