done with my build and....

it gave me some problems mechanically and now its got another problem. i booted it up and when it boots my hdd a screen comes up with and error and askes me if i want to boot it up in safe mode/ safe mode with command/ start windows normally. if i hit safe mode it just writes a bunch of stuff in the command console its in and then stops and does nothing. if i hit boot regulary it loads the windows loading screen and then this blue screen comes up really fast and i cant see what it says and then it goes away and reboots my computer. i have a bio star mobo and an amd 3800 x2. also have a raptor hard drive if any of this stuff matters. can someone help me

that sounds more like a software issue, I'd say repair your windows installation, and if that doesn't work, reinstall windows

how would it be corrupt? i just took the hdd out of one computer and put it in my new one... wouldnt it have to do with something in bios sience its a new mobo by bio star?

how do i "repair" windows? its a brand new hdd so i dont know why this would be.

The likely culprit is a loose cable or RAM stick. Go back in and check all your connections, especially the IDE cables and make sure your RAM and processor are well-seated.

ok but if all my cables are ok then what could it be? i dont think that the hdd would be broken cuz its like brand new and it was working like an hour before i took it out

it would help if we get the whole story to begin with, if you took this hard drive with windows already on it from another computer and are trying to just stick it in this one and expect everything to work, it most definitely won't. This now sounds like what you were trying to do. As far as repairing a windows installation, you put in the boot disk and on one screen it will ask if you want to repair your windows installation or install windows, but I don't think this will help you in this situation

yes thats my situation. i will try to run the the system repair. if that doesnt work what else do you guys suspect could be my problem? i got everything new except the hard drives i had. so.... what should i do if repair doesnt work

as I said, you really need to reformat your hard drive when going from one computer to another, unless it's just data and no programs, which is obviously not the case. I replaced my mobo like 3 months ago with an identical one and I had to reinstall a bunch of stuff to get it to work correctly, since you are going to a completely new setup, you really should reformat and it's probably your only option

Yeah, if you took your hard drive from another computer, you have to reformat it. It is not a hardware issue. Reformat it, and if it still doesnt work, post back here.

well atleast i only had my new harddrive for like 2 weeks so it doesnt have mutch to loose on it. i guess ill just reinstall windows and see what happens

Windows doesn't like it when you put it on a new Mobo. I would guess about 90% of the times i have tried to just move the harddirve to another mobo it didn't work and it gave me a BSOD...

yea i just re installed windows. but now i have the same problem with my internet connection. everytime i re install windows i cant seem to get my linksys to work. the program doesnt show up. last time we fixed it by taking out the wireless card and then installing the drivers for linksys and then putting the card back in but that inst working now.

Windows doesn't have the drivers for your wirelesscard. Every time you redo your OS your going to have to reinstal the drivers for it.

obviously... i knew that one but for some reason the setup wizard doesnt come up and isnt able to set it up on my computer. the screen for linksys comes up really fast and then goes away
