Donloaded files don't appear on computer

Hello, can any1 help with the following?

Whenever I download files from the internet it doesn't appear on my computer. I can't find them anywhere. For example I right-click on something then go to "Save As" and choose a name for the file (leave it as original name) then select my desktop or my documents to save it to. My computer then starts to download it, but when it's finished downloading I can't find it anywhere.
Can anyone help??

you can: check your desktop, check your "My documents". Last and finally, use the built in "Search" feature in Microsoft....
