Ok, my friend has a gateway tablet running tablet xp. well, she spilled like maybe, 3-4 oz of water from the f keys on down. she freaked and hairdried it all out, so it is dry now. She said that if i can find out whats wrong, i can have her new 650 dollar dell she bought! so, im trying to fix it really bad. when i plug in the charger, the light doesn't come on on the tablet to indicate a charge, so i got a new cord, and the light is still off. any ideas? like what should i test and how. i'd really like to think their is still hope.

If it was just water then there may still be hope, you will need to open the laptop up however, and make sure all the components inside are completely dry and aren't shorting out.

As Omega said, there might be hope...however, there's one thing to remember about wet electronics. They're usually just fine UNTIL you try to power them. If she didn't remove the battery right away, or if it wasn't totally dry inside when you tried to power it back up, something may have fried...

Just recently I split some Dr Pepper on my keyboard. I quickly unplugged it from the mac and ran it under some water for a while, then let it dry over the weekend. You'd never know anything happened to it... I know a whole tablet is a bit more complex than a keyboard, but...yeah...

Be very particular about the LCD screen as moisture can find its way between the layers somehow... and if it is not completely dry, there will be dark blotches all over the screen if it even still works.

Ok, she said it was off when it happened, and she waited like a day to turn it back on, so i guess i crack it open and inspectigate then.

it might already be too late, but when you do open it up and you find anything that looks like it needs to be cleaned, use 91% higher isoprol(spell check) alcohol, or denatured alcohol (forgot which might want to ask someone else)
