Doom 3 Reccomended

Hey. Does anyone know what is one of the reccomended graphic cards are for Doom 3 and Battlefield 1942? I was thinking of getting the Verto GeForce 6600 256MB DDR AGP. Do you think thats a good deal, or do you think I could get something better than that for under $99? :confused:
 
i dont think a 6600 vanilla is gonna get you much for doom 3, though it should handle bf1942 pretty nicely. Try to at least get a 6600gt if not 6800GS, which is only about 160 bucks and is ALOT better than the 6600 vanilla.
 
6600 vanilla will run DOOM3 fine
i have one and i run doom3 on 1024x786 with high seting without any problem

anyway if u get 6600gt or 6800GS they will do much better
 
i have a 6800gt and i rum doom3 on highest settings its a great card it overclocks to the 6800 ultra specs using coolbits
 
Yea, but what do you reccomend as a good, cheap, graphics card, that will run Doom 3 at High Settings? (Under $130 or a little more than that) Skidude, I was trying to talk about the core clock, sry bout the mistake...

hey im plannin to get a 6800 but GS is there any difference between the GS or GT? and have you played FEAR on maximun setting with that card?

Hi. I just got a new graphics card (Ge-Force FX 5500 PCI 256MB) today. I couldn't wait to download F.E.A.R and Doom III demos. I waited, until they were done. Finally, I installed them, restarted my computer, and played F.E.A.R first. I put it on the highest setting possible. It ran amazing!!! The same with Doom III! I have waited so long to get a cheap, good graphics card... I reccomend you get the Ge-Force FX 5500 PCI 256MB. ITS THE BEST!

Buy it at Best Buy for only $100! SUPER CHEAP!

There is absolutely no way an FX5500 can run FEAR or Doom 3 at the highest settings. This card should only be considered by those with a mobo without an AGP or PCI-E slot. Here's an idea of how it performs on Halo - it can't even break 10fps at high res.

GS has higher clocks, but fewer pipes. Overall, the performance is almost identical, with the GT having a slight advantage.

No offense dude, you got ripped off. Never buy ANY graphic card at best buy. That card is worth like $50 (maybe less). And its outdated and crappy even for its time. You could have gotten a much better card for the price.
 
Border line card: 6600

And, I payed me Geforce 5200FX last year at $140 from a computer store...doesn't even know WTH he's doing...a bad rip off
