I personally don't think Doom 3 is that great. You feel like you are not in great control of your caracter and the guns are lame if you ask me. Plus i hate those futuristic looking guns where you have trouble figuring out what they do from the looks. I guess i am just used to the RTCW where everything is so fast and you can jump and run much more. In doom 3 when you play on hardest level is almost impossible to play perfect cause you cant jump away that easy....

And i find it more disturbing than scary. All this blood and screaming etc, but it doesnt really go under your skin as i thought it would. (thrilling wise)

Plus even with my Radeon X800 XT the game skips sometimes, i know its not the best card but i thought it was enough for Doom 3 at least....

And why do your oponents and coworkers like fall apart when you hit them with a simple flashlight, lol

I agree

I agree, story, gameplay, and control wise, Half Life 2 easily trumps this. HL2 is simply the better game. BUT, you should get Doom 3 for the engine anyway.

Guess why i got it, its still a fun game to play and of cours i love the challenge, but i was just making a point on how overrated it is with people saying: Best game ever, most fun, best this best that....i just dont think its worth the attention its getting. Half Life is the godfather of all....cant wait till Half Life 3, or maybe they should call it: Full Life and a half, or something :D

naw

Doom is the grandfather of all games, Half-Life is the father of the modern day games, HL2 is the smart, popular son, and Doom 3 is the big, muscular idiot son.

You know I never actually got into HalfLife 2 probably because I only played it for 15 mins but Doom3 was awesome, played that for a few hours...scared the crappa out of me though lol

doom 3 scary? okay then i will stay away from this one.

Well not exactly that scary but when you have your friends over and at two oclock in the morning with each of you having stereo headphones on...It is pretty scary, we only played it for a few hours because crouding around his computer wasn't fun :P

so so

to be honest with all the hype and everything that was surrounding it and then playing it I wasn't all that overwhelmed or excited;......its a good game but I have played better: In my opinion

So Have I :)

Well I've played many games over many years and I must say that No game I've enjoyed sooooooo much as Half Life 2. The graphics are solid but the physics engine is what kept me playing. I thought Doom 3 was good but very repetitive as well as dark. I know doom 3 was supposed to be scary and was to a point it could have been brighter to a point. The game I'm most looking forward too now would be Quake 4 which of course will use the doom 3 engine but hopefully a bit brighter world this time.

Indeed HL2 is awesome but I don't think the guns are lame in doom... I mean what gun is better than the BFG?! Yes there's not much ammo with it but with one fully charged shot you can vaporise even the nastiest of characters.

What's the fun of life like guns? when you can have plasma guns and huge orbes destroying things!

Well thats what makes the game so attractive for children, to blow up shit with unreal stuff. Why do you think Counter Strike is so successful? Cause the guns are real and it gives a real feel. Todays games are successful when they are most realistic...and not baby bash panzer faust headshots
