double proccesor? always best?

what does a double proccesor change? is pentum duo core the last intel penitum double proccesor or is there anything higher? is any double automaticaly better then a single? i heard that penitum was was good, and i know that core fends off pentium 4, so whats better between core and pentium M?

You do know a processor is also called a CPU (Central Processing Unit), right? There's a section for that
