double screen question

I have a surveillance system on my computer and would like to set up another monitor so I can watch the cameras while i do other things on my computer, is this possible? In other words, one monitor will only display the cameras and the other monitor will be open for other things
 
OK, well you will need a graphics card for that, does it already have a good one, or is on the motherboard???

If it on the motherboard, then no, you will need to buy a good graphics card.

If you do need to buy a graphics card, what is your budget, for a nice one, we are talking about $200, that will get you a nice one.
 
i right clicked on my desktop and checked under settings, it says there is a NVIDIA GeForce MX 420. I'm not great at computers so i don't know if that is good or not but there is no budget to worry about, whatever people recomend i will get. Thanks for the help so far. let me know what i should get.
 
sorry i'm not sure pci-e or agp is, but i don't think i have them as this is just a basic computer from dell. if i need one i'll go ahead and get one.
