Downgrade cost you money these days...

Some people need to get over XP and just go with Vista already.

I'm not speaking for myself though because I'm not shelling out the money to make this machine run Vista.

What if Vista doesn't work in your environment? Why be forced to use it, when XP works for your needs and you prefer it?

I just installed Vista X64 today and its not a bad OS but DAMN does it have some horribly ANNOYING features.

I have disabled most but the one blocking my MSI PC Alert program is killing me I hate not knowing my temps ^-^

I'm using XP on my main machine and Vista on my laptopa nd I hate it on there. It's impossibly slow but HP don't offer any drivers! I reckon businesses will always keep XP until it's final days. The NHS I know buy Vista laptops because they're cheaper and then use their Trust licences to install XP because it's proven to work well in a business environment and Vista isn't really.

That said, in Vista I can use ACHI which I can't in XP.

It is about time to go away from XP, however, I do not feel Vista is the way to go. I still have a fair amount of issues with my laptop which is running Vista. For a while I noticed myself using myself using my slower Dell with Ubuntu and XP Pro loaded on it because of its reliability and over-all speed/load times.

All of my workstations at work have XP. I tried Vista on one of them but network browsing seemed very slow and I had some problems with print sharing on our shop floor. I am going to use XP as long as I can at our workplace.

Anyone else have experience with Vista at work?

Althought I would probbably see alot of execs with Vista on their laptops.

Depends, a lot of executives have Mac laptops. I know that most places around my area will have PC desktops and give their users and executives Mac laptops. They are more secure, and can be networked with windows and typically don't need any sort of management.

My boss has a Vista laptop though, but I think it is more because he wanted to try Vista out more than anything. My head boss has a Mac laptop. All the administration at my work have Mac laptops, and of course the user base as well.

XP is enough for me, why should I chnage to a OS that still has a few problems and that takes half of my RAM?

It does cost extra to buy two licenses. Since DELL cannot legally sell it as the main OS, it would have to be bought as a second license.

People do need to get over XP though, Vista is faster, and more secure than XP.
