Downgraeing would prabally cause morre problems then it would solve, if ti even solved any at all.

I fyou want to, do it the way you would normally install, boot from CD and have the WIN98 CD in your drive and start installing.

Computer too slow?

What are the specs on your PC, because if you have an ancient PC, then XP is not for you.

233MHZ with 64MB memory is the absolute minimum for XP, I'd recommend at least a P2 350mhz though with 96 OR 128MB of RAM.

I have a P2 350 with 320MB RAM & XP Pro, runs like a charm.

What problems are you experiencing exactly?

mmm...with those specs maybe 98 was fine, a clean copy of XP will tear through those 64MB of RAM and use up a good portion of that 8.4GB HDD.

What kind of problems are you having? Just the response time is sluggish or freezes, or actual errors from something?

Google - "wdclear"

it will format your drive if you use it on a floppy disk and boot with it. just make sure it's in the PC when you boot up, then it will open a prompt like "A:" and type in "wdclear.exe" or "wdclear" and it will begin to run. select the drive you want to write 0's to and it'll start.
