Downgrading my old laptop

Ok I have a Dell Latitude Cpx J with a Intel Pentium III - 450mhz , Ati Rage Mobility M1 AGP2X 8mb Video Card Memory, and 128mb of RAM.
I want to know if I can downgrade from Windows XP SP2 to Windows 2000.
I want to downgrade because it becomes unstable and very slow, processor is on fire, takes about 5 minutes to boot up (Im spoiled because of my new rig ). So before I dig in to all my old computer boxes, and try it, I would like to know if it would work, because I really don't want to reformat my Hard Drive, which is only 10GB lol.

Any advice would be great

(Overlclocking doesn't work because It is already hot enough at 50C stable. And I don't want to upgrade it, Im just giving it to a friend because it is my old company computer. I want him to get pretty good performance, Maybe I'll try ClockGen to see if I can get it stable at 600mhz...)

if you have a licensed copy of 2000 u can reformat and put 2000 on there. PS who copied who on the sigs??? they are basically identical!

Reformat and reinstall... Unless you upgraded from 2000 to XP and "installed" the uninstall option(I think the upgrade to XP had that...) there's not much else you can do.

well i certianly didnt copy him....ive had mine that colour and layout for ages.

ask Kornowski;)
