download issue

lately i have had some problems downloading files.....
i use FlashGet and IDM to download stuff because the firefox downloader is SUPER slow.....like 50kbps at it's best.
so whenever i try to download something, everything starts up, it will download as usual, and at a random spot it will stop downloading and the bitrate will go down to zero. this is super annoying.
it happens no matter the site, whether its gamespot or dattebayo.
 
I had that same problem after I installed a firewall...

Do you remember the last time you downloaded ok?

I would try to do a system restore to that point.
 
If it happens on 2 different computers, then it could be your internet connection.

One time, I was given a shitty cable modem by my ISP and was constantly getting disconnected or had no service. They sent a technician to inspect my cable. Turns out the modem's power adaptor was too small to provide it with sufficient power. They replaced my cable modem with a WAY bigger power adaptor. Problem solved.
