Download Problem

I have this terrible download problem. No matter what or how large file is, it just stops at a random time. I cant download anything at all. I dunno if its my computer or what, but it does it on both my desktop and laptop, both which run Vista, and i have IE on the desktop and Firefox on the laptop. Im just so lost, i cant do anything.
 
Nah, that cant be it, i run cable on my desktop and wireless on my laptop, connected from the building down the street where i work (a Motorola connection). It does this with movies too, such as on youtube or something.
 
it probably is the internet disconnecting. so it does it on both your desktop and laptop and they both source their internet from your workplace?

No, only my laptop connects to my workplace. My desktop is connected to my home internet. If it is the internet disconnecting for a second, is there anyway to stop this? it happens on EVERY video i try and watch, or every thing i try and download.
