download problems

my pc been acting up lately when trying to download or run streaming media files always get corrupted. also it will shut off by itself at times.and when loading pages on the internet it wont load properly half the time. i tried running one stick of ram and then switching but it still happens.

specs
amd64 3800
xfx 7800gt
wd 250gig
2x1 gig corsair valueram
antec smartpower 450watt ps
windows xp sp2

It could be your internet provider, which is why files are corrupted (your downloads aren't completing).
 
had 2 computers hooked up through the same modem so i dont think its the ip. the other pc worked just fine
 
the modem is hooked up straight to the motherboard

It could be a number of things. It's difficult to determine a problem like this unless you see it in person. Can you record a video and upload it? I'm more than happy to help.

sorry i dont have a recorder. would there be any basic things i should check for or do.
 
Do you hear any out of the ordinary noises coming from your computer (buzzing, humming, grinding noises)?

awile back it had a whine/buzzing type of noise. sounded like the harddrive. but i havent heard since i connect it back up last month.

I am going to take a guess and say it is your processor. Since it is an older model of the AMD, and AMD doesn't exactly make the best quality.

That is only a guess though. It could be your power supply or hard drive.

i was thinking it was the proc or hd.tomorrow im gonna have someone look at it and if nothin here or he can fix it im just gonna build a new one
