Download Speeds?

How come I have a 3MB a second internet service and yet I am only getting a stinking 160KB speed?

I would love to no why i am missing about 95% of my speed here and is there anything at all I can do to speed it up even if by only 10KB but preferably a lot more.

various factors can effect your speeds, things such as the distance from your exchange, quality of the copper in the wire from the exchange to yourself. Number of people using the line etc.

I am on 8meg but geenrally my speeds don't go much higher than 450-500, occasionaly manage to push 600+ but kinda rare

You are getting your full speed

And its not 3MB its 3 mega bits, thats why you aren't download at 3 mega bytes per second.
