Hi,
I have just re-formatted my hard disk and trying to download the lastest version of Win XP Home Edition. However, I am not sure which settings to change at the CMOS/ BIOS. I understand I have to boot up from the CD rom.
Maybe I gotta ref-phrased my question. "How do I download an OS from CD-rom after I re-format my hard disk. What are the settings that need to be change in the CMOS/ BIOS?"
Hmm ok just load your cd when you first start your computer (leave the os cd in the cd drive and then restart)
From there you can have all the options and you can format your drive and then reinstall windows because it is running directly from the cd, not the hard drive
Thanks for the advice, DYSERQ. Dun think it is so simple. I am sure I have to change change the settings in teh CMOS/ BIOS for it to boot up from the CD-rom.
in bios under one of the sub caterogories, there's a boot sequence bit. change the first boot to cd rom. pop in the cd, restart the computer when it asks, press any button.
