downloading directly to SD card

i download A LOT of high resolution photos DAILY to my lenovo thinkpad x1 carbon. it only has a solid state drive and i want to preserve its lift and performance for as long as possible.

if i downloaded them DIRECTLY to a SD card would the main hard drive (the ssd) have to cache it during the transport to the sd card or would it skip the ssd alltogether thus saving a lot of writes and deletes on the ssd and in return extending its life/performance?

If i'm not mistaken anything you download gets saved to a temp file on C drive until its done downloading and then it goes where its told to go.

I doubt if it will truly make any noticeable difference. You'll probably upgrade the ssd or computer before the ssd wears out.

i don't think so. this is my second thinkpad x1 carbon, first one the hard drive degraded fast because i am downloading 10 gig a day and then deleting all week long.. didn't take long doing that to notice a huge performance drop. i reformatted and few times and it never made a difference
