Downloading Faster

Need Help in this, when ever i download anything in the internet it takes up a long time why this happen to my pc? i just brought it not too long ago. Can anyone here give me some enlightenment about this thanks in advance.

mainly the download speed is dependant on the upload speed of the server

It is but do you have firefox?
There is a pluggin that makes the download speed like 4X faster and it actually seems to work unlike most of them.
O I have found the link, first get firefox from here http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ and then get the Download them All add on from here https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/201/

That should work but after that there is nothing else to do.

But what if i am using opera browser, do i still need firefox Calumn?

Yes you will still need firefox because the download them all plugin is for firefox and wont work in Opera. If you don't want to lose opera you could have both. Make opera your default browser and whenever you want to download a file go into firefox and use download them all.
So yes you still need to get firefox but you dont need to get rid of opera.

I'd suggest trying "GetRight". Its a program that alows you to do multi-segment downloads and also searches for mirror sites so that you download from several places at once and thus increase your download speed.
It also has a function which allows you to 'pause' a download so that you can continue it later or if your pc gets reboots.
