Downloading Multiple Images at Once

Say I am given a URL for a picture that is part of a series for example:

http://www.fakewebsite.com/picturesfolder/pic1.jpeg
http://www.fakewebsite.com/picturesfolder/pic2.jpeg
...
http://www.fakewebsite.com/picturesfolder/pic"n".jpeg

What is the best program/utility that would allow be to make a parameter from 1 to a designated number and have all of these photos saved to my harddrive?

I'm currently running on Mac OS X. Is there some light programming I could do with Java? or Possibly even use Automator?

I'm not familiar with Automator - I took a quick look at this page which has a few examples, one of which is related to web pages.

Basically you need to create a loop to make the URLs. Depending on the downloading app you can either download the image and save directly or make a list into say Notepad and paste that into an app.

Code:
URL1 = http://www.fakewebsite.com/picturesfolder/picXYYX.jpeg
For i = 1 to N
  URL2 = URL1
  Replace XYYX in URL2 with i
  Download URL2 (or add to a list in Notepad or copy to Clipboard)
Next i

XYYX is any string that is not likely to be met in a URL

Offhand I'm not sure what apps (other than Automator) will download the URLs. I have payware Bulk Image Downloader and you can paste a list of URLs into that. In that case instead of Download URL2 you would Add URL2 to Notepad.

For freeware, I also use Downloadthemall for Firefox which I think can be set to copy the Clipboard. In that case you would change the Download URL2 to Copy URL2 and Downloadthemall would pick it up automatically.

First of all you need to find a downloader for the MAC, whether internal or 3rd party.

FireFox has an add-in called "DownThemAll" that can download all of the images on a webpage with 1-click. Not exactly what you asked for but might work for you.

Yeah, you could write a program to do it. Wouldn't take that much code if i'm thinking right. I've seen people write bash/shell scripts for this kind of thing as well. As far as a freeware program, I don't know of any good ones.
