Hi,

I own a a Compaq Pressario, and lately, my CD-Writer/DVD-rom has problems....
Sometimes when I play a DVD , the computer freezes and I have to press the restart button....
When the computer has fully restarted, I get an error saying that Windows encountered an error that made him froze.....

I've this drive with the computer and never had this problem before.... Even Itunes has problem with the drive, I can't import without having to stop Itunes because it is not responding and same for burning....

Any help?:(
 
I doubt that's a driver issue. It could be a failing drive, or if you mean video DVDs, it could be poor codecs. I've used some MPEG2 decoders that just didn't work well with my system, causing it to lock up and all.
 
It did it again while i was playing medal of honor on my computer.... I had to restart the computer, the screen had shut down and the computer froze...:(
 
While playing medal of honor... Was the CD-ROM being used at all, or was this during game play? Because if it's during the game, it's most certinally not going to be a problem with the drive.
 
It was during game play... Never happened before, been playing this game for two years almost every day without having this problem....
 
is it a blue screen? did you try control alt delete to bring up the task manager and end the programs that are not responding.
 
It said "Monitor going to sleep"... It only says that when I shut down the computer....

It wasn't blue, the monitor just shut down... :S
