Driver IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL - help please!

Hi. My computer has had this problem for about a year now, and I have done many things in my attempt to fix it. I first formatted my PC and reinstalled windows, which worked for a while. Then I disconnected the front USB ports on my computer (custom case), since I had connected them earlier. That worked for another while. Now, after recording music onto my computer from tapes, to convert them to CD, I am having this blue screen come up on that says "Driver IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL." I've seen a lot of other forums with people who have the same problem, and am wondering what I should do to fix it. My video card is an XFX 8800GTX, so perhaps the regular Nvidia drivers are not right? I haven't flashed my bios but I don't want to unless there is a need. Also I'm going to run a memory test soon. Thanks for any help.

it says to try updating or removing any newly installed hardware, and if that doesn't work to contact my hardware manufacture for any updates. Since it's a custom build, that'd be ASUS, Nvidia, Creative, etc. etc.
It seems to come up when the computer is under load. Not with video games, but with music programs or Audactiy, things like that.

I would just update your drivers and then run a memory test. Or just run one stick at a time and see if the error goes away. Could have a bad stick.
