Here's a crash course on my computer and the problem it has been giving me:
I have a 7800 GTX and a 20 inch Widescreen Monitor by Dell (2005fpw) which has a resolution of 1680 x 1050. When I install the new drivers, making sure along the way to exit my security software, I can't push the little bar all the way up to 1680x1050. It only goes to 1600 by something. Needless to say, you can't do anything on a monitor unless you're using the native resolution because it looks so scrappy. I think there's a problem with some part of windows installer, or how i'm installing the drivers, a combo, really I DON'T KNOW. But I am optimistic that I am not the only one to have this problem with drivers and this monitor, which is a very popular monitor. Even if you have this monitor and graphics card running on the recent drivers, tell me, because it will narrow down the possible solutions I am looking for. Thanks.
