Driver problem.

I just re-installed Windows (XP MCE) today since I got my new Sempron. I tried installing the ATI drivers from the website (version 6.8), and I got the errors listed below. Then i tried the Omega drivers (catalyst 6.7), and it worked at first, but then the same message. This has happened in the past with virtually all of my video cards, but usually its fixed by installing different drivers. Any ideas on how to fix this?

One idea comes right away. You started in the right direction by "going back" to an earlier version of Catlyst CC and drivers. The model there in your sig has been out for some time now where an older Catlyst and driver set like 6.2 may be the way to go. The older AGP models run into problems going past Cat 5.11 or 5.12.

Thanks for the input, thats what I thought at first since our family computer (9200SE) cant run any of the newer driver downloads. But after some trial and error I was able to get the ATI Catalyst Control Center working, but using the Omega drivers from a previous catalyst version.

If you really get stuck you can email the ATI support staff and they can send you a link for the older Catalysts. You may want to download and save a few of the older versions to keep onhand. After a certain point the newer updates often become useless for certain models. PCI-E cards won't be any different there. Usually that's when they are about to be discontinued.
