Driver Sweeper

After installing and updating the drivers of my computer many times, i have come to notice a bit of a slow down with my computer. Now I know that reinstalling is best but it's just so much of a hassle that I don't want to.

Now there are many programs out there that advise the removal of old driver files that are no longer needed, I'm looking for your opinion on Driver Sweeper. After running an analysis with the program it lists various files for deletion...some of them including AMD Display Driver files, which are for the video card I currently use. The thing is I cannot tell if these files are actually being used or if they are just part of old driver packages from AMD.

Thanks. :)

When you go to update, you should uninstall through add/remove programs, then boot to safe mode and run driver sweeper. Select what drivers you want to clear and it'll do it. It doesn't matter if drivers for your current GPU are wiped because they will get re-installed when you update the driver package.

That's the point of Driver Sweeper - to get rid of old driver files and prevent conflict with the new drivers.

Sounds good. How about just when I have my drivers? Should I run it and get rid of the files it says?

I usually delete everything it finds. Just be sure to scan only for the desired driver set.
