Ok im building a computer and im just waiting for a few parts to arrive tomorrow so i was wondering once i have the whole thing built what order do i install stuff in. right now i have XP home, Drivers for my motherboard and im assuming when i get it drivers for my video card. What order do i install these. thanks

It doesnt matter the order, for me i install the Mainboard, audio, and video drivers first sime i would like to have sound while im working and also some programs require an updated video card driver.

But it really doesnt matter, just install them in any order you want. However i would run Windows Update first since some programs require specific updates in order to run (Windows .NET Framework is a big one).

Also if you find something and you have no idea what it is, so you can't get drivers for it, download a program called Everest, easy to find by google. Install it and it will tell you everything you need to know about your hardware.

You're gonna need to install DirectX before you can install some drivers now so yeah, get that out of the way first
True, thats the main reason why i install video card drivers at the beginning. (The video card drivers should come with DirectX)

I've read repeatedly to install the very latest chipset drivers before anything else, then get online and download the latest of everything else: modem, LAN, sound, DirectX, etc. Just my two centavos.

cant update the drivers till after you install windows, update the motherboard chip set drivers first! then video, sound, Lan and so on.
