It all began while I was rendering a huge file over night. After it was done, I decided to turn off my computer. The next day I turned on my computer, for some reason it automatically shuts down, with no error reporting or BSOD. I was confused so I decided to do reboot it agian. This time it shuts down during the XP start up. So I took out my xp cd, did a repair chkdsk /p. After it finished repair it boots up normally. I run a chkdsk reboot just to be sure also I run memory test, hard drive test, and video card test all run ok. The next day, I turned on my computer. Agian it shuts down my computer during the XP startup, I figure it could be the xp being currupted. So I run a full reinstallation repair, not reformat. After it finishes deleting and begin the process of installing windows, I get the memory dump BSOD. I tried switching my memory one at a time, still memory dump. I do not want to buy a new computer or parts. By the way my computer still automatically shuts down, if I leave my computer off for an hour.

WOW 2 insane errors at once, whats next hardware error?

I do not want to reformat because there are files I still need in my computer, but if all else fails then I'll reformat.

any idea?

do you know the cause of the automatic shut downs? could it be power supply failure?
or could it be the os, my mobo has a led indicator and all ram, cpu, vga are ok. I did reformated my comp not too long ago due to system error, and frequent memory dumps. I might have had a bad XP cd.

It could be any number of things, for the best solution.. with the least amount of time. Just try it. Personally I think it is a Mobo issue.

just reformated my comp. windows is not the cause of the shut downs.

tested cpu, runs 39c
motherboard led indicator detects ram and vga running normally.

before the shut down, I hear shocking electric like sound coming from my comp. could it be my motherboard? or powersupply? also for some reason it needs to be warmed up to start normally or so it seems.

Try to identify where they are coming from, also make sure everything is plugged in all the way.

ok I've checked it, and the sound seems to be coming from the top case fan. should I unplug it and replug it back in? or leave it unplugged?

I think I found the problem.
It seems to me that I have to make sure my usb flash drive remains unplugged from my computer, on every boot. Just to not have the shutdowns.

Any way to fix it?

Yeh I've had that happen before. As far as I know theres nothing you can do short of getting a new motherboard so just leave it unplugged until you need it.

ok the problem continues, now this time whenever I play a game it shuts down. seems like it has to be warmed up to not shut down. Is the problem really the motherboard?
