Drying after using compressed air?

Ok, when I was cleaning the southbridge on my ol' k8n, I tilted the can a bit accidentally and I MOISTENED it. How long should I wait for it to dry before booting the comp! I have nooo idea, thanks.
 
as long as it takes. Many manufactures can's of air have a oil base to it. And you should be buying static free air. Besides that do not turn the can sideways or upside down.
 
well bugger me and dip my balls in gravy, my comp broke..
I heard the warnings about compressed air, but damn that computer was dusty.

It is doing that annoying thing where if I put a power cord in, it will immediately turn on, regardless of how I turned it on/off. No idea what part has gone awry. damnit.
 
Most older computers will do that. Check the bios for power after loss options... make sure it says stay off or off. I've also seen changing the power supply fixes this issue. But check bios setting first.
 
Naw, i'm not even getting an image on the monitor. and I tried attaching one of those usb extensions with the 4 warning lights, so i can get some error code, but it won't light up. i havnt used that for 7 years though.. so I don't think I have anyway of knowing whether there is a problem with the cpu, mobo or gpu other than swapping components. I'm hoping I am missing something though. The keyboard lights up, and all the fans are operational.

I cannae believe I broke that comp with compressed air, must have had some oil in it. :/

make sure all your power connections are fully seated. Mine will power but not display when the 8 pin CPU is unpluged. Might do it for PCIe too, but I have not forgot that yet.
 
Thanks for the suggestion wolfe, I was not aware it could power up like that.

Unfortunately I appear to be verrrrry unlucky and will have to take it to a repair shop to diagnose. oh, i could put the graphics card into the other computer to test that at least.
 
wolfe is talking about maybe reseating a few cards or pushing plugs back in. You might have bumped a few items. reseat them. might work. ive never seen a can of air rack a motherboard. it might work.
