Hi...........this just needs a quick answer. Thats all :)

I may need firewire sometime.

So which option should I go for:

GA 965P DS3 + Firewire adapter card
P5B-E
P5B Plus

(please tell me the difference between the last two motherboards).

p.s. I am not a serious gamer. I might want to try overclocking the motherboard (first time for me); but not for games; just for performance increase in other applications, video editing etc.

Thanx.

The only difference I can see is that the plus model has high capacity capacitors. I have the P5B-E and I like it.

Thank you...........both of you for helping me make the decision.

I go for GA P35 DS3R !!

Now just need to know, if it is compatible with all the parts I have bought:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - 1 - $278.88
ASUS Quietdrive DVD-E616A - 1 - $21.60
LG GSA-H54N DVD+RW - 1 - $31.10
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB - 2 - $231.76
Corsair XMS2 2X1GB PC2-6400 - 2 - $267.12 (5 sticks)
BFG GeForce 8600GT OC PCI-E- 1 - $144.99
Coolermaster CAC-T05 Centurion 5 - 1 - $49.68
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Atx LGA775 - 1 - $127.93
Xfi - Extreme Music - 1 - $102.00
CORSAIR HX520 - 1 - $100.00

(all canadian dollars)

And do you think this would make an excellent system? Feel anything missing? (don't worry about the video card; i am not a SERIOUS gamer :)

First time builder........so any opinions on this system would be much valued and appreciated.

Forgot to list one thing there...........also there is a RAPTOR 74gb 10000rpm drive (which will be my O/S drive).

bye...

Get a good aftermarket PSU, the one in the Coolermaster case would probably be sufficient, but you don't want it pooping out on you.. if you're going to get the P35, I'd remove the 965 ds3 from the to buy list. ;)

looks good. Very nice system.

:D ..........right; I am not planning on a backup motherboard. Just one would do fine.

And hey, did you NOT see that I have listed "CORSAIR HX520". Thats my PSU.

So what do u think now?

My real concern (maybe I am worrying needlessly) is that I have not bought an additional/better cooler, fan etc (just whatever is in the case). Is that okay with this setup?

I see. Better cooling will be a huge boon to an overclocker, but if you aren't doing any of that nonsense then it's not a big deal.

Looks great
