Ok now this is starting to get under my skin. I recently decided to go BACK to DSL from Charter because well.................Charter is getting way to expensive for what I use it for. For Phone, 3mbps Internet and cable I'm paying basically $200 a month. So in talking with my fiancee I find out that through her work we can get phone service and the same 3mbps internet for $40 a month. Now a few years back I had Verizon DSL for about a year before I started losing connection and to make a long story short after going through all of India I was informed that my loss of connection is because I was just on the outside of the connection area............................yeah it would have been nice to find this out sooner, but needless to say i canceled them and went to charter.
Now on to the current issue at hand. So yesterday I hook up my lovely DSL Westell 327W Gateway, all is working well..............until the dreaded phone rings. Whenever you make a call out or receive a call the internet disconnects. This started to give me flashbacks to the last time I had DSL. So I went back to the basics I checked to make sure ALL my phones had a filter on it........which was easy because I only have 1 phone, which it did so just to be sure I replaced the filter with a new one just in case it was a bad filter. Needless to say when the phone rang again it did the same damn thing. So next on my list was to see if it was a router issue, because I'm using my Netgear Max Range router instead of the Westell router portion. I went into the settings of the westell and shut down all routing features and tried again..........you guessed it the net still dropped. Next I reset the Westell and used it as a modem and router and that still did not work
.
My next course of action was to check all my phone lines to see if there is anything wrong with them and all checked out well. When the phone does not ring the internet FLIES and I would like to keep it but this is crazy.
So now that I know its not a hardware issue I called tier 3 support to find out if I'm to far away.......YET again without them telling me, but to my dismay the line was busy for some ungodly reason. So now I'm turning here to see if anyone has any ideas what I can do? Thankfully I have not canceled my Charter yet so I have been using cable until I can figure out what to do.
Any help would be great
