DSL Filter/Home Phone Line---No Dial Tone---

Hello all,

This might be a long shot but here it goes...

The last 3 weeks or so, my internet would drop connection (not while I was connected) anyways I have a DSL modem/router connected and three phone lines in my building.

Two of the phone lines have a DSL filter connected to them and the other does not. Up until recently the phone line without the DSL filter has no dial tone. I have replaced the phone/tried a DSL filter on the line/ and tried another phone. The only thing I can think of is a bad line coming into that specific room or I need to try a new DSL filter.

The funny thing is, I've had this line connected without a DSL filter since 05' and the phone worked just fine up until now.

This might be a long shot but what are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance!!! :D

From the sound of it, I'd say you have poor lines in your building. How's the actual phone quality? Is there static in the line or just poor sound in general? Can you gain access to the phone box outside? Maybe plug into that and see if the quality's any better (trying to isolate if it's within the building or service coming there...)

Finally an update. Took the phone company two days to come out and fixed something on the phone box. Like you said I tried the plugging a phone into the box outside and I still didn't receive a dial tone. But now its fixed and all well!
