I would like to start a thread about DSLR gear.

Just got my 50D with the stock EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM kit lens. Had it for a few months and hoping to get some good stuff for Christmas like the Tamron lens I want and a battery grip.

I know :D My boss bought it barely used off a guy and it was just sitting around so I bought it off my boss for $500 with the lens :D Can't wait to get some more stuff for it! I'm really into photography now!

Plus I'm good friends with Geoff ([-0MEGA-]) and we get together and do photo shoots together. I've learned a bit from him. Plus I get to use his lenses :)

$500 w/lens is a good price O:

I just bought my first dslr as a gift to myself. I am just starting so for now I have a Nikon d90 with kit lens. Bought an 8gb SD Card for it. Im planning to buy lens that I can use for shooting landscapes.

It all depends on how much money I can save up. :P

also add to that future plans list is a 50mm f/1.8. I should've gotten the 50mm f/1.4 over my current 85mm f/1.8. It is a sharp lens but I find it too tight at times. Having a bit of buyers remorse on that purchase.
 
Yeah 85 is more fit for a Full frame or 1.3 crop body. Part of me wants to get that new Sigma 85 1.4 for my new 1D Mark II :D haha.

Even though the Sigma 50 1.4 has some focus issues, if you get a good copy they are far better than the Canon 50 1.4.

I was supposed to get the Canon 50 1.4 a year ago (I couldn't afford the Sigma) but the a-hole sent me a used Bible instead. To this very day he tells me he will get me my money back but never does... Being scammed/ripped off really really sucks :(
 
damn that sucks.

I'd like to get a 50mm 1.4 but I've read tons of reviews and the 1.8 is almost as good. So I'll save myself a lot of cash by getting the 1.8 then I can buy a new tripod.
