Dual Band vs Single

Hey everyone I am shopping for a new router, I am having alot of mixed feelings on the topic of dual band vs single band. I will have multiple users and streaming lots of HD. The house it will be in is a small two bedroom

Some people are saying that the dual band will have a week signal in a room away. I just bought a ASUS RT-NT65U and I am contiplating returning it.

I will have 25mb/s from COX ( IDK if that helps ).

Thanks for your help!

Do you have any devices that can use the 5Ghz band? We recently got a dual band router and most devices cannot even see the 5Ghz side, let alone connect to it.

I run a dual band router at work and at home. I have everything use the main 2.4Ghz band but I connect my computers to the 5Ghz to prevent slow down from other devices on the 2.4Ghz band.

All the computers will be able to connect to 5ghz...biggest problem everyone keeps mentioning is that the range sucks...even a wall can cut the speed in half?! Is that correct?

Thanks guys! :)

Depends on the house and the actual router you get, as some project signal better than others. My router is on the 2nd floor and I still get 3 bars in the basement.
